The box is 1,999 dollars, and the software is monthly
The Verge reported on October 14 that Square is selling an ordering kiosk. The story time is 16:00 UTC, midnight in Beijing on October 15. It was available starting that day at 1,999 dollars, for businesses with a Square Plus or Premium subscription. Software is another 99 dollars per device each month.
The piece does not say whether the hardware can be bought without the subscription, or whether the monthly fee can be stopped. The two prices and that subscription condition are what can be checked.

Understanding the menu is Square's sentence
Square says the machine has an agentic, conversational voice layer that fully understands a seller's menu, listens and answers in real time, and lets a customer order the way they would talk to staff. During the conversation, a person can ask questions and request modifications and substitutions. Those sentences are Square's product description.
The report has no order success rate, no mishearing rate, and nothing on what happens offline or with a dish name it does not know. The touchscreen is 21.5 inches. Square also says the kiosk can greet someone who approaches, using presence detection.
[1]Payment goes through the reader, not through the voice itself
At payment, the customer can use the contactless reader or the card slot. The voice is for questions and changes while ordering. The piece does not say the voice can confirm a charge by itself.
The shape is described as a large pill. That is a description of the object, not a performance result.
[1]Past the sale date and the price, there is no further measurement
The hard information stops here: on sale October 14, 1,999 dollars plus 99 dollars per device each month, Plus or Premium, a 21.5-inch screen, a greeting when someone approaches, and payment on the reader or in the slot. Menu understanding remains the vendor's description.
There is no comparison trial, and no count of how many units are installed.
