On September 29, IT Home reported IDC’s latest worldwide humanoid-robot tracker for the first half of 2026. Global shipments were close to 25,000 units, up 432.1% year over year. In the same set of figures, the market was more than $740 million, up 322.7%. This piece did not open the IDC report. The numbers are IT Home’s account of it.

China is described as the main source of the growth. In the first half of 2026, shipments there were more than 19,000 units, up 426.3%, about 77.9% of the global total.

IDC expects global shipments to exceed 750,000 units in 2030, and it raised that long-range forecast by about 50% from the previous one. That is a forecast, not shipments that have happened. The stated reasons are more supply, more scenarios, and a consumer market that is starting to open.

The mix of uses changed. Research and education, performance and display, and government data-collection centers together fell from 83.8% of 2025 full-year shipments to 69% in the first half of 2026. Research and education is described as moving from universities toward vocational schools and primary and secondary schools. Performance and display lost share. Government data-collection centers are still an important destination.

Manufacturing is described as the main place being tried now. The vendors named for industry are AGIBOT, Ubtech, and Galbot. Retail, logistics, and leisure are starting to see more trials. The home market has begun to see actual shipments: small, lower-cost robots sold to individuals, for children’s education and companionship. Products for personal companionship in the second half of 2026 are described as just getting started, not as a market already at scale.

The report also says embodied-intelligence models are iterating quickly and that robots are getting better at understanding, deciding, and acting in complex settings. No measurement is attached to that sentence, so it is not treated here as a result alongside the shipment figures.
