What the official account announced

IT Home reported on October 10 that XPeng's official account said that afternoon that XPeng had been elected secretary of a new working group under the UNECE GRVA / WP.29 framework. The group is named the working group on exchange of information related to autonomous-driving scenarios, abbreviated TF-ESRI.

Which sentences are XPeng's own

XPeng says this is the first time a Chinese company has served as secretary inside the core UN framework for autonomous-driving rules. XPeng also says the role shows that the system coordinating those rules recognizes its assisted-driving work and its long participation in standards. Both sentences are XPeng's. This report does not quote the United Nations or another independent body confirming them.

XPeng also says it will later take part in global coordination on behalf of China's auto industry. That is a plan the company announced, not a division of work the report shows has already happened.

What the report does not establish

The report does not give the group's powers, term, or membership, and it does not attach a UNECE notice of the election. What a reader can check is that XPeng's account announced this and IT Home relayed it.
