Some entry-level candidates will talk for 10 minutes
The Verge, citing The Wall Street Journal, reports that McKinsey will ask some entry-level candidates to spend 10 minutes in the interview with an AI simulation of a client. The test is for undergraduates seeking business-analyst jobs in some North American offices, this fall. The story's time is 22:53 UTC on October 14.

The people in the room do the scoring
The Journal says the simulation is meant to reflect about 80 percent of the scenarios McKinsey consultants might encounter in daily work, and that it is not designed to mimic an unhinged client. The 80 percent is a restatement of a design target, not a measured coverage rate. The AI will not score the candidates. People in the room watch how they handle the simulated situations.
[1]Hundreds is still a “may”
The Journal says hundreds may use it. The story does not name the offices, the model behind the simulation, or what the test has to show before it expands. The Verge notes that other companies are also building AI figures for interviews. That is not a result of this McKinsey pilot.
