Plans renamed, and a five-hour cap lifted

Anthropic's official account posted at 2026-10-30T17:29:07Z, 01:29 in Beijing on 31 October, inside this edition's window. The post renames the Max plans: Max 5x becomes Max, and Max 20x becomes Ultra. Max remains $100 a month, and Ultra remains $200. Someone who already subscribes does not have to take an action.

The same post says the five-hour limit is being removed for verified Ultra accounts, starting that day for most existing subscribers. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until they are verified. The temporary limit is tied, in the post, to preventing fraud and abuse, and the post says an email arrives when the limit is removed. Weekly limits stay as they are. The post does not print what those weekly limits are.

The post does not define what verified checks, does not say whether the old 5x and 20x usage multiples survive the rename, and does not say separately whether the Max tier still has a five-hour limit. The removal is written for verified Ultra accounts, not for every account. A later restatement from an employee does not add those figures. This column uses the official post only.
