No longer limited to Muse
The Verge reports that on Tuesday Shopify said shoppers can configure their own agents to buy for them, giving more agents access to over a billion listings. The catalog includes items on Shopify storefronts and items off them. In September the company had already partnered with Meta so Muse could browse and purchase for a person. This time there is no separate partnership integration. Any agent can be used.
A billion is the number of listings in the catalog, not the number of orders already placed through agents.

Each purchase still needs the buyer
Setup connects an agent to an account on Shop. Shop is Shopify's app for gathering orders, tracking packages, and recommending products. As with the Muse partnership, checkout inside the conversation uses one-click Shop Pay, and the order returns to the Shop app. Shopify describes it as a shopper that can be given rules, such as a budget limit or a filter for fast shipping. Buyers must approve each purchase.
The piece does not say at which step in the chat that approval appears. It only says approval is required.
