The filing names offers and a license

TechCrunch reports that Apple disclosed, in a regulatory filing, an agreement to bring on team members and technology from the personalized-audio startup Huxe. MacRumors reported it first. Apple told the European Commission that it has agreed to make employment offers to certain employees of Huxe AI, and to receive a non-exclusive license to Huxe's intellectual property rights.

TechCrunch calls this kind of arrangement a reverse acqui-hire: hiring people and licensing technology rather than buying the company. That is the report's label.

Huxe said in May that the product would stop

Huxe's founders had worked on the AI-generated podcast features in NotebookLM, later renamed Gemini Notebook. On May 21 Huxe announced it was shutting down. The company said on its website that it would remove the app from the Apple and Google stores, halt service, and delete user data. It also said the team was moving on and would not continue development of the product.

On June 9, shortly after that announcement, Apple notified the European Commission of the deal.

What the filing leaves out

The filing does not say who received employment offers or whether they accepted. It also does not disclose Apple's plans. TechCrunch guesses this could relate to podcast features. That guess is not in the filing, and this article does not treat it as Apple's decision.
