The report says the talks are early

IT Home reported on October 11, citing the Financial Times, that people familiar with the matter say Nvidia is in advanced talks to acquire the US company Reflection AI or to invest more in it.

Reflection AI builds open-weight models. On October 5 local time it released Beam, its first open-weight model.

Those people say the talks are still at an early stage. The possible forms include what the report calls an acqui-hire: Nvidia would take the core team and a technology license. The report places that form next to avoiding the antitrust review of a full acquisition. That is a description of a possible form, not a signed deal.

Money already invested, and terms still open

IT Home writes that Nvidia is already one of Reflection's main shareholders and previously put $800 million into the company. In the financing round this March, Reflection was valued at $25 billion. Those are the dollar figures in this report.

Several people familiar with the matter say the two sides may settle a plan within weeks, and also stress that the talks can still collapse. Specific terms are not set. Nvidia and Reflection both declined to comment.

This is not yet an acquisition

What a reader can check is that the Financial Times, via IT Home, reported early talks, the Beam release date, an earlier investment, an earlier valuation, and a refusal to comment. The report does not give a price, and it does not say a deal will happen.
