I think that this AI Agent is an amazing, incredibly useful productivity-enhancing business growth tool. I love the innovative idea. Don’t get me wrong about that, but I have a nagging worry. Does anyone else start to feel that this rapidly accelerating deployment of AI agents everywhere by everyone is perhaps too rapid? Is developing and selling AI agents the new gold rush and career choice for the next generation?
Perhaps my oversimplified(!) metaphor here can illuminate my worries…
➡️ What if a town is famous for manufacturing a local product XYZ, and what if every home, house, apartment and business in the town sets up a store to sell XYZ to all their neighbors? How much would they sell? How much sustainable income (ARR) would they achieve over the long term? How long before “first-mover advantage” evaporates? Did this strategy actually create new wealth or create stagnation with an unmovable supply surplus?
Hooray and congratulations for being a First Mover! 🎉 But is that a lifelong career choice for the AI-equipped masses?
Final comment: I am a big proponent of AI / ML / data-fueled technologies. But are we disrupting career choices too rapidly? I would like to see AI thrive as the “new smartphone” — not a career path, but a wonderful diversely outfitted technology that enhances & benefits countless jobs, careers, education, entertainment, recreation, and life-enhancing opportunities — not diminishing those.
