Learn from Experience! — the key to success in life and in Machine Learning. "Machine learning is the study of computer algorithms that automatically improve with experience." — From the first page of Tom Mitchell's book [1997]: https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~tom/files/MachineLearningTomMitchell.pdf My paraphrase: "ML is the set of 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙇𝙂𝙊𝙍𝙄𝙏𝙃𝙈𝙎 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙉 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙈 𝙀𝙓𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘾𝙀." [𝗺𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀] When I read that in 1998, after many years of studying mathematics for physics and astrophysics, it was the first time that I learned about ML, and I asked myself, "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯?" Searching for an answer to that question forever changed the trajectory of my career.
