I keep seeing demos where the agent looks unstoppable.
This VC18z piece is the sober counter. At 95% per step reliability, a 30 step job only finishes clean about 21% of the time. Verification can wipe out the speed win. Write access turns an assistant into infrastructure with a bigger attack surface. And Salesforce, GitHub, Jira already own the workflow.
Their punchline: is the agent the new layer, or just the new UI on the old one?
That is the real underwriting question for the next 24 months.
