Banks have always profited from customers doing nothing. At 0.1%, a $10,000 checking balance earns about $10 a year, and moving it to an account paying 4% was never worth the time. But for an agent it's a small compute job what if deposit rates start behaving like airfares. with AI agents comparing accounts continuously, a bank that bumps its rate for a day can pull in a wave of cash. This is from Apollo Chief Economist Torsten Slok: "Muse and similar agentic AI assistants could soon sweep household cash automatically into accounts paying 3.3% to 5.0%, instead of the 0.1% national average on checking accounts."
