Unitree's new Dex5-S Dexterous Hand. with 22 motorized joints, it increased how much finger movement, software can command directly. but at $6.5K, better not lose a finger. Every joint is backdrivable, so the fingers can be pushed from the outside and the motors will physically give way instead of locking the joint in place. This can make the hand safer around people and objects, and it also helps with teleoperation because a human operator can physically reposition the fingers more naturally. peak load at 2kg and continuous load at 1kg. Unitree also says each joint has impact-torque protection designed to shield its gears when the hand is struck or overloaded.
