Now BBC reporting on the spy story at OpenAI.
> Prosecutors revealed he spent a month quizzing a workplace AI assistant about meeting calendars, including where external partners usually met OpenAI staff.
> Between 24 and 30 Sept he allegedly prompted a chatbot about building and modifying an audio recorder, including how to install, hide and remotely access it.
> The result was a Seeed XIAO ESP32-S3 Sense board plugged into a TV’s USB port around 28 Sept, wrapped in toilet paper and set to encrypt its contents.
> OpenAI’s technical surveillance countermeasures team found it during a room sweep on 30 September, after CCTV had logged Alfozan near the room 8 times that month.
> A camera installed afterwards filmed him looking behind the TV on 5 October, when he also left a bag in the printer room holding his wallet, his ID and another recorder similar to the first.
A detention hearing is set for 19 October, and the charge carries up to 5 years in prison and a $250K fine.
